Hiatus End

It looks like the Hiatus is going to end this week. I'm going to get back to work on the comic, and will post the estimated date of the next page soon.

Short Break

Ok, it's official: 2214 is going on a short hiatus (not very long, but it's been on hold unofficially for about two weeks) while my work schedule is intense.

It would be my guess that things will let up a bit in a few days, but for right now, I have to concentrate on getting things done before the comic can get it's much-needed update.

Working Late

Ooookay. I just finished that big freelance project late Friday night (actually 4 a.m. Saturday morning). So now I'll actually be able to get to work on page 112.

Rant #117 Sunday, April 10, 2005

Spam filters are a mixed blessing. While they filter out a lot of junk mail, they also block other legitamate e-mails.

I adjusted the filter so that it produces less "false-positives". Wow, is that an oxymoron or what? But anyway, if you sent me an e-mail and it was never answered, chances are my spam filter zapped it. I try to answer every e-mail I get.

For getting page 112 posted, I'm looking at the middle of the week. There's a big freelance project that I'm knee-deep in at the moment and it's critical that it gets done on time and under budget.

For now... check out the new design for the forums. Yes, I'm a tad too lazy to link them at the moment :P I need sleep...

The forums are back and are using an up-to-date version of phpbb.

The host was really great in response to that incident. They verified that the server hadn't been breached or anything, so I was able to more accurately figure out what had happened last night.

Anywho, we're back up and running ^_^

NOTICE

We have lost the forums due to hacking by a coward. The script kiddie decided to exploit a vulnerability in PHPBB.
I've been looking into how they were able to do what they did - and let me assure you, it wasn't through any ingenuity on their part. They made some simple changes to the forum configuration and the admin account via a little script they must have picked up from somewhere.
Currently, I have the complete, up-to-date forums on my development server, and I've upgraded PHPBB to the latest version. All of the mods have carried over, too. It's just a matter of double-checking all of the security stuff before pushing it live.

Where do these two-bit morons get off calling themselves hackers, anyway? The problem doesn't lie in what they did, but rather in the fact that the flaw existed in the board enabling them to do it. Hey, I know nothing about hacking and even I could have done this. Still, it's annoying.

Believe me, this is not a good time for this crap and I am SO sick of dealing with these kids. One can only hope that they get caught.

The forums will return as soon as everything is fixed.

Update:
Sorry, still getting over this bug thing. I haven't been able to stay awake for more than a few hours at a time, which is kind of what usually happens when ill.

The comic *will* go up tomorrow night. I had to re-draw two of the panels because they were kind of sloppy.

Heh. Now that I'm awake, I'm drawing. Yep. Actually working on the comic now.
