The RP in the forums is in full swing now. Several players, including myself, have started the story in what appears to the be the distant future in relation to the 2214 storyline.
As a supplement to the RP / addictive complete waste of time, I created a random 2214 character generator.
I'm currently working on a major revision to part of the site. The forums, currently hosted on binaryvibrance.net thanks to Lynx, use phpbb and are currently quite stale.
Because of this, I've been working over the past week to create an all-new proprietary, closed-source forum system. It may be ready some time this month.
When the new forums are about to go live, the old forums will probably still be available at binaryvibrance, but the idea is to make a transition once they are ready.
Of course, this side-tracked me from drawing, but page 115 is done (and has been) except for the final panel. That final panel requires a bit of detail, so that's why it hasn't been finished yet.
Thanks for your patience while I take steps to breathe new life into Nitrocosm.com and make it better than ever.
Apparently GZIP compression isn't a good idea. It was causing the site to output gibberish instead of HTML. Apologies to all who were experiencing problems due to this.
In other news, I'm going to have that final panel finished for page 115 done some time today.
While this new design was an optional "skin" for a while, I've switched the default layout for Nitrocosm.com over to use this design.
It has been tested in IE 6, Firefox, and Safari. It should work in Opera, although Nitrocosm.com does not officially support this browser. I'm shooting for W3C standards as much as possible here.
If you have any problems, though, please e-mail me. It's important that the site remain accessible to anyone with a relatively current browser.
If you have tried to contact me using the e-mail form or my direct e-mail address, chances are I have not received your e-mail.
My spam filter has apparently been blocking quite a few legitamate e-mails over the past few weeks.
Apologies to all who have tried to contact me. Please re-send.
Thanks.
Page 114 is up at long last! It took over four months to get around to completing, but its completion marks an official attempt at reviving the project.
The other night, I helped someone invent a new sport: GPS writing.
It works by finding a large, open area and walking through it in a pattern that forms letters and spells out words. We were going to use cursive, but later decided to use block letters for the sake of simplicity. Large, empty parking lots work well because there are guidelines painted on the asphalt.
The results of our newly found sport can be seen here.
In other news, I've added a new section to the site. Random articles of interest will be posted in this section. This is where some of the weirder ideas go.
Page 114 is about two hours worth of work from being done. If the page isn't posted sometime before 5 am tomorrow, then it's a safe bet that I have some serious time-management issues.
So... there's some new art here and as you may have noticed, my rant pic has been updated with an improved drawing style. I'm not sure why, but being out of practice doesn't have the effect that would be expected. I guess that's because doing web design counts as art practice.
I'm going to see "'V' for Vendetta" tonight at an IMAX theatre. I've never seen an IMAX film, so this should be really interesting.
There is another art piece that I started way back in July that I am working on. It is in the inking stage right now. Using Adobe Photoshop 7, I'm trying to get the lines nice and smooth while at the same time keeping them sharp. The tablet works wonders for tasks like this, but it still takes a lot of patience.
UPDATE:
I was set back a bit by work and uni, but I'm scheduling some time Wednesday to complete page 114.
I'm focusing on 2214 this week. The other idea, "Proper Time Theatre" has been cancelled because 2214 needs all of the focus right now.
I've revamped the pro site.
In addition, I've been working on the Babblefish Studios site.
Also, I've started running Google ads on the site. The reason for this is to attempt to raise a little money to help pay hosting costs. There will never be any popup or intrusive ads, so don't worry.
