Back in Action

UPDATE:

Sorry, folks. I've gotten part of page 114 drawn, but some problems with my computer (it keeps crashing / it's a piece of crap) prevented me from finishing today.

Since I work and attend class online during the week, the page will probably be finished on the weekend. It's been a while since I've drawn anything, so it takes a while to get back up to speed.

Scheduling

My schedule is in the process of being fine-tuned. Right now, I am working full time (hooray) and taking online uni courses in the evenings (also hooray). The weekends and some evenings have time open, which I will try to optimize (this sounds like I'm defragging a hard drive). That "optimized" time will be devoted to getting the whole art / music thing back into swing. Yes, yes, I plan on doing 2214 on the weekends. If I could get that old "every Sunday" schedule on track in a consistent manner, that would be ideal.

I highly recommend listening to the Grandia soundtrack if you like classical and/or VGM soundtrack music. Iwadare-san's music for that game has been my favorite ever since I played the game.

Ok, I'll get back to building that shopping cart application at work in the morning, so sleep is now.

Crash-o-matic

My main workstation has been trying my patience over the past weekend. I had to wipe the C: drive and re-install everything, which ate up all of my weekend.

I was going to work on 2214 at long last, but these difficulties derailed my plans.

I started working on a project for a company last week, but I'm not a full-time employee yet. It isn't certain what will happen.

Stay tuned.

Time Management

Oh, the great art of time management.

I started class Monday. Uni is going rather well so far, and although it is always easy in the beginning, I expect the coursework to sharply increase in a few weeks.

My job hunt continues, with some interviews lined up in the next week and a half. I am also taking a bit of time to study up on object-oriented programming, XSLT, and some other tidbits. When and if I find employment, I will also create time to resume 2214 between work and school.

Will Work for Food

It's been a while since I updated the rant column. A lot has happened since the last update.

First, I am in urgent need of work. Full-time or contract employment is something that I sorely need! Of course, freelance projects are equally desired. If you need a web site built or designed, or if you need illustration or music, please consider contacting me. Both my rates and quality are better than competitive. For employers, I will send my r?sum? via e-mail on request. Take a look at the business site to view my portfolio.

Somehow, it's become clear that finding work in the field of IT has become much more of a challenge. To help the situation, I've recently started taking online courses in order to finish my bachelor's degree. As far as many employers see it, skills and experience mean absolutely nothing if a candidate hasn't finished a degree. If you're in the same boat I am, I very strongly recommend finishing your degree. University of Phoenix Online is where I?m taking care of this, so please check it out if you?re considering online courses.

Now it?s time to explain 2214?s unexpected second hiatus. While 2214?s officially on hold, it isn?t so due to my intentions. Between the most intense, frantic job search of my career, and taking care of some other issues, the enjoyable leisurely activity of drawing web comics has to take a back seat. When 2214 is updated again, it will remain a free web comic.

I will admit that I have been working on music as well, although the time consumed for these projects has been much less than what would be required for drawing. The purpose of this is to develop better skills as a composer, in order to widen my horizons and perhaps find a bit of work composing music. The latest song is "Sacrosanct Parallel", a classical piece created with the intention to allow an actual orchestra to perform it. If you would like the sheet music for this piece, please contact me and I will e-mail it to you. If you prefer something of the hard rock variety, "Mulletime" might be more to your liking.

So, now you know what's going on, stay tuned. If 2214 isn't updated there will at least be more music and art in the future.

New Song

I just finished this one last night. Hear it here.

In other news, I'm going to work on finishing my degree. It's about time, of course. I mention this because it's relevant to my work.. More on this later.

2214.... oh yeah, that comic I was supposed to do...

Hey There.

A lot has happened over the past few weeks.

No, I didn't give up on the comic, but I have not even been able to touch the site for a long time due to freelance work.

My internet connection was repaired a couple of weeks ago, so there's one problem solved. I hope I didn't forget how to draw. It's funny how a million little things can set one large project back by weeks, and even months.

So... just a bit here to let you know I'm not dead (yet) :P

When it rains, it pours

Guess what? It's winter, and we all know what that means! It means it's time for my internet connection to break. This year, it's not out completely, but extremely slow and unreliable.

On my second try with Time Warner's customer support, I was able to get someone who was *not in an overseas call center* on the phone. Someone's coming out to the house tomorrow to check everything. I hope they can fix it.

If they cannot fix it, then my internet connection will be gone for a while. Who wants to pay $50 a month for something that doesn't work? Fortunately, I think DSL has finally become available in my area.

We'll see what happens. I'll do some drawing in the mean time.
