CSS Blues

Coding web pages using CSS is a necessity for good web design. It is, however, more often than not an exercise in disappointment and frustration.

The latest versions of Firefox and Google Chrome render elements a little bit differently than previous versions, which were supposed to adhere to web standards. Relative positioning and floats now render slightly differently, resulting in messed-up positioning of some elements.

I had to spend some time tracking down all of the places in this site's content management system where these elements were rendering differently. Fortunately, nothing on the front end or in the forums was messing up.

This has taught me that no browser can claim to be 100% standards-compliant; it's only a matter of time before either the standards change slightly or the browser developers' interpretation of those standards change.

If anyone still looks at this site, e-mail me if you find anything that has been messed up on the page. Thanks in advance.
