My freelancing projects have my schedule well-booked for the next couple of weeks. This is a great thing. I have time open to work on 2214 and Proper Barn this weekend, however.
My primary monitor's backlight control circuit went bad a few days ago so I had to replace the monitor. It was an Acer AL1914 and had been showing flickering and signs of imminent failure for more than a year. It's too bad that it only lasted about three years. The new monitor is an LG flatron W2043T (a widescreen, unfortunately) which will work fine as a secondary monitor but I prefer 4:3 aspect ratio due to the fact that my Wacom tablet is 4:3.
Widescreen is being shoved down consumers' throats, I'd say...
My primary monitor is now the LG L1933TR, which is more conducive to drawing in Photoshop due to being a 4:3 aspect ratio. I also switched both monitors to a DVI connection. The difference in image quality is pretty substantial compared to a VGA connection, which surprised me even though the signal is far more direct and does not suffer from digital to analog (and vice versa) conversion noise. There is no way I would want to go back to analog VGA connections now.
If the L1933TR breaks, I'm going to have to either cope with not being able to use the whole tablet or not being able to use the whole monitor. It has to stay proportional in order for drawing to be correct.
